Pink Flamingo Fantasy Necklace
Pink Flamingo Fantasy Necklace
~*Presenting the Pink Flamingo Fantasy Necklace.
You've no doubt heard the expression "statement jewelry", well hold on to your knickers darlings, this here's some Exclamation Jewelry!!!
It begins with her feathery plume, a lush 8" ostrich feather, which I hand-dyed a brilliant shade of pink. Then I beaded and beaded and beaded some more: faceted ruby rondells and seed beads, delicas, bugles in powdery pastel pink, baby bottom pink, azalea pink, hot pink, fuchsia... her neck/ body is comprised of a helix "rope". The itty bitty bead-weaving madness goes on for a delightful 20", from the tip of her beak, to the base of her tail.
Her lovely three dimensional head and beak were fashioned using circular, flat and free-form peyote stitch techniques. To maintain her lively shape, I filled her pretty noggin with pink (yes, pink) freshwater pearls! Her eyes are 4mm faceted pale aqua Tourmaline rondells.
Affixed to her tail by means of delicate silver wire wrap is an amazing trio of faceted ruby briolettes, cascading down from delicate sterling silver chains.
At the base of her tail, we spy a curious bit of Victorian nostalgia, a fuchsia button with steel cuts arranged in a floral motif. Darling Flamingo holds a little loop of beads in her beak which she hooks around the button, thus closing the necklace about your lovely neck.
Unabashedly One of a Kind ;-)
